Matters arising on the minutes:

Children in Church: Jan Kramer had initiated the Sunday Club; additional help was requested. Holding it in the Choir Vestry, as agreed at the last meeting, had proved impractical.

The Scouts had closed due to low numbers. It was noted that, though the Brownies have a new (but temporary) leader, numbers had dwindled.

West end of church: Diocesan Advisory Committee would be visiting the church on 26 June.

Treasurer’s Report

It was noted that there was a £10k deficit over the year to date.

It was agreed that donations for the repair of the roof would be invited when the work started. The contract with our current energy supplier was due for renewal in August: AP would investigate possible alternatives for consideration by Budget and Finance Committee.

It was agreed that it would be appropriate to reconsider the question of whether the church should make a collective commitment to charitable giving, over and above individual giving.

Fabric Report

It had been discovered that lead flashings had been removed from the north aisle roof. Problems with the timer controls for the boilers had not yet been resolved by British Gas. There had been a leak in the heating pipes below the floor grilles in the south transept: British Gas had carried out the necessary work. A leak in the roof over the disabled toilet in the Parish Hall had been repaired. The second hawthorn tree in the Parish Hall garden had been felled. Work on the Parish Hall kitchen would begin on 27 May.

Shire Oak CE (VC) Primary School: Staff and pupils had taken part in the All-Age Worship on 11 May. The leavers’ service would be held in chuch on 21 July.

Churches Together in Headingley: There would be a Songs of Praise on Pentecost afternoon. Information had been provided about the launch Leeds Citizens, a network designed to promote and enable community action.PC
