Choir Diary

Hi Everyone,

I hope that everyone is well and looking forward to the winter months now the clocks have gone backwards, soon be Summer. I wanted to send you the music list for this month so that you can see what is going on so far and to update you and confirm some dates and events for Advent and Christmas we know about.

Events so far….

Sunday 28th November - Advent Carol Service 6:30

Tuesday 30th November - Headingley Christmas Lights switch on. Church opens from 5:00, some carol singing at 5:30, outside for the switch on 5:50. Lights on at 6:00. We will continue the carol singing in church after the lights have been switched on.

Saturday 11th December – Headingley Farmers Market & CTH Carol singing – this has yet to be confirmed but is usually on the second Saturday of the month.

Sunday 19th December – Nine Lessons and Carols. Plan for an afternoon practice and then the service at 6:30. Perhaps we could think about having lunch at a local pub after the morning service, so this isn’t a too manic day.

I hope that we will also do some more carol singing this year around Headingly and will produce a more accurate diary for you when more dates and venues have been arranged.

At choir practice on Wednesday, we also discussed starting the Wednesday choir practices at 6:30 instead of 7:00 so that we can have more time to prepare Advent and Christmas music. I hope this is ok for everyone. During the transition out of lockdown we only needed to practice for a week at a time. We now need to stretch ourselves in preparation for Christmas. We would start this at choir practice from 17th November.

Please also do let me know as soon as you are able to do so if you will be not attending on certain dates so that I can manage what we do without any surprises. Please do try to attend as much as possible. It’s been great to welcome some newcomers to the choir recently and would be great to see more in the choir as we continue to grow. Don’t forget that the new people also need your help and support too. We are very desperately missing the Basses.

Many thanks for all your hard work and support. I have heard so many great comments from people about Angela’s Licencing service last week. It was great to hear the congregation sing too!

Kind regards,

David.
