Church GovernanceChurchwardensEach parish church elects two churchwardens to serve as officers of the Bishop in that church for the following year, with a mixture of legal, spiritual and pastoral responsibilities. They are elected at an annual Meeting of the Parishioners at which any person on the Church Electoral Role and the local government Register of Electors in the parish is entitled to vote. The churchwardens for 2011/12 are:
Parochial Church CouncilThe Parochial Church Council (PCC) is a partially elected body which shares with the priest certain responsibilities in the governance of the local church. Together with the priest it has a role in promoting the pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical mission of the Church in the parish. The elected representatives sit for three years each, a third of members stepping down each year. Members are elected at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting by those registered on the Church Electoral Roll. All priests in the parish, licensed lay workers, churchwardens, and lay members on Deanery, Diocesan and General Synods sit on the PCC by virtue of their office. |
