Present: Revd Tony Whatmough (chair); Rebecca Crowson; Ann Dudzinski; Nick Gough; Felicity King; Cefin Lewis; Janet Lewis; Ashley Marshall; Alan Parker; Joan Penter; Luke Verrall; Deryck Piper; Alex Wheatley

Apologies: Malcolm Heath; Jane Ferguson; Pippa Clayton; Ben Ellis

West end of church: The Diocesan Advisory Committee’s report had been considered by the Fabric and Maintenance Committee and they had agreed to ask the church architect to prepare plans for:

  • the removal of the wooden ‘porch’ which is immediately inside the main (north) door of the church and new doors (maybe glass doors, as a St Chad’s) to be fitted in the outside porch
  • the installation of a kitchen area and a toilet (with disabled access) to the right hand side of the main door of the church
  • the font to be moved to a position adjacent to a column in the north aisle
  • the children’s corner to be partly sound-proofed (using transparent panels above the existing wooden partitions)

Mission Action Planning: A start was made to forming the steering group, Nick Gough and Deryck Piper agreeing to join. Names of other members of the congregation were put forward and Tony agreed to approach them.

Team Rector’s comments: A draft calendar is in preparation and will be circulated for comment. A Charity of the Season arrangement will be started and advertised ing the Pew Leaflet. In Advent a Posoda (Travelling Crib) was proposed together with a Chistingle Service on Christmas Eve.

Parish Safeguarding Policy: The previously circulated documents were approved. (Proposed Janet Lewis, seconded Rebecca Crowson). Jan Kramer is prepared to continue as Safeguarding Officer. TW will convene meeting of relevant people to disseminate the information. It was hoped to arrange a First Aid training course with St John’s Ambulance.

Treasurer’s Report: A written report of receipts and payments to 31 Aug 2014 was received. Pledged giving is up by £4294 over the year. We have been able to reclaim overpaid VAT on our fuel bills.

Parish Hall and Youth Centre: The meeting in July discussed the kitchen refurbishment, noted that repairs to the roof were finished and agreed to raise rents. Plans were made for future fund raising events and a small scale working party. Current information is that there has been a pleasing increase in the number of bookings being made.

Churches Together in Headingley: At the recent meeting future plans were made for Carol Singing, Week of Prayer, Agapes, Lent Lunches and Pentecost Praise. It was hoped that the Street Angels would resume functioning in Headingley.
